is iup overall a good college? i applied recently and will hear back once i write my essay for my education major. i really want a suite when i go to college. do they allow freshmen to live in suites? do u like iup? i live 5.5 hrs away from iup (i live closer to philadelphia the other side of pa) is it worth the trip? how are the buildings?
This is like the most glamorous on-campus housing there is. I live in McCarthy, a traditional dorm and our room is smaller than one of those rooms hahaa. We had to bunk our beds to fit. Elkin is pretty nice though for a traditional dorm.
Just sayin’, if you’re a prospective student, this is one of the more expensive and glamorous housing options.
What you probably didn’t see was the headphones I used to mute the sound of my amp. Noise violations are big at IUP and a drum set would definitely not allowed, unless you have one of those electronic ones with the headsets.
Hey do you know if they allow drumsets?
cause im lookin to buy one and i live four hours away.
Im goin to IUP in january to start college will they allow it since they allowed your guitars
The room is quite large. Its better than a standard dorm room though. You barley have room for the bed in one of those.
go for a 2 person semi private suite
It depends on the room. This one is a 4 person shared suite with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen/common room. Its around $3250 a semester. Some more private suites cost over $8,000 a year! Just check IUP’s website and type “housing” under the search engine for all the housing information and costs.
what it is per semester!
is this a dorm or a apartment/suite?
and how much do you pay for it based on what is is per semester?
The people are great! That is one of my favorite qualities of IUP. On the other hand, I do hate the weather up here. I’m from the south and really miss the warm weather and blue skies. I also think the campus is very unattractive compared to many other universities that I’ve been to. ALOT of cigarette butts plague the campus… In a few weeks I might transfer. Also, alot of the building that you will have class in are in shambles; really trashed. Walsh for example. I hope you enjoy IUP though.
Well I’m in state. I know alot of people, who went to IUP and loved it. A man by the name of Keenan Holmes, who was IUP’s ALL-STAR athlete a couple years ago, hurt his leg and is now a Lawyer in Pittsburgh, Pa. He’s young, wealthy and ON THE BOARD at IUP. He was telling me alot about the school, and it hit my interest.
Do you like it there? How are the people?
I have 2 guitars in my room and a rather large amp and there’s plenty of room. The dorms are amazing. What brings you to IUP? I’m out-of-state and I’m not even sure! haha
I will be attending IUP this year, Fall of 2009.
Is that Suite Style worth it though? Because I’m the type of person who would like ” A ” roomate, but would also want my space at times. You know…. would I be better off going for a regular dorm or a suite. I’ll be doing ALOT of Music also, so I’m going to need my space for some of my stuff. Nothing major….
Its expensive. This one costs a little over $7000 a year.
Nice dorm. What is the cost of that suite style, per semester?
