My son is a student! He will finish school next year. What does he need in order to be accepted into Harvard? He wants to study something like diplomacy!

Hey guys I plan on having a 3.9 average (my school doesn’t offer AP or honors courses). I’m going into junior year this september. What kind of university should I be aiming for, what should be my range? My extra curriculars so far only consist of a math competition in grade 9 in which we won first place but in junior and senior year, I plan on doing ALOT of things to make up for it.

Of course it’s unfair. How many people are actually good at writing essays? I know i’m horrible at writing them, but my GPA’s pretty high. Your GPA is basically how hard you’re willing to work. I know kids with 4.5 GPAs who get C’s on essays. Someone who puts hours into their school work and such shouldn’t be cheated out of the valecdictorian spot just ’cause somebody else who doesn’t is a better essay writer
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
how is it unfair? everyone gets a fair chance? not just the intellectual elites?
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Our school goes by whoever has the highest GPA. Of course, sometimes the valecdictorians cheat, which was the case for my brother’s graduating year and all the students knew it. For us, whoever’s valecdictorian have to write an essay to say during graduation though. And this also means there could be more than one valecdictorian and more than one saludictorian. The way your school does it is a bit unfair…
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
since when has vaedictorian been first or second place? lol in my school you just right a speech and who ever has the best one is valedictorian
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
top 5% is really good, but try to be valecdictorian or Saludictorian. That means first place or second. If you go to Yale… see you there! I’m working towards Yale as well.

oh please. stop putting discrimination on education. harvard is for everyone — who has brain, strong pile of guts, willingness and determination (of course).
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
thanks for the advice. i think i am above average (top 5%) in our batch, as of now though.
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
thanks. i am working on it. if harvard will not want me, i will find a way to yale.
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Well, that’s your lame opinion.
:d
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Depends on your grades and how well you are doing in school. If you are doing very good then yes there is a great chance to make it just remember Harvard only acepts less than 10% of there applicants, so it’s very competitive. But you could probley get in if your grades and scores are way above average.
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
depends on how hard you’re willing to work.
August 12th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
